URGENT: Need you to help stop the appeal 2:30PM Feb. 28th at City Hall

We REALLY need your help tomorrow (Feb. 28th)!

The opponents to New West are planning to make a big showing tomorrow at the Planning and Land Use Committee (PLUM) meeting at 2:30PM. As you can see by the attached flyer, they are drumming up support by continuing to spread lies about New West’s intentions. The lies are frustrating, but they are effective, and they will result in large-scale opposition. They are providing charter buses to bring in a huge number of people in opposition.

We NEED a very large turn out of New West supporters to attend the meeting tomorrow, where a recommendation to the City Council will be made regarding the expansion. The PLUM meeting will be held at City Hall 200 N. Spring Street, LA 90012, Room 350 at 2:30pm on Tuesday, February 28. Please get there early, as the opposition will try to fill all the seats.

New West will provide bus transportation for those who want to avoid driving. The buses are scheduled to leave New West at 1pm and return around 4-5p.m.

Students are encouraged to attend and you are welcome to take them with you to the hearing.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Supporters,

Appeal Filed

As anticipated, an Appeal of the approved New West Conditional Use Permit Application was filed by opposing parties on January 13th 2012. The Los Angeles City Council District 11 (Councilman Bill Rosendahl) will play a critical role in the outcome of the appeal.

We need your help TODAY!

We’re at a critical time, and we need your help! While the City Planning commission unanimously voted to support our conditional use permit, there is a great deal of misinformation being spread by people opposing the permit. They are primarily focusing their communications on Councilman Bill Rosendahl with the intent of an appeal. It’s critical that our supporters contact Councilman Rosendahl ASAP to counter the misinformation being vocally spread by our opponents (see Myths and Facts).

Please take a few minutes now to call Councilman Rosendahl and express your support. It’s especially going to be useful if you let him know that you live or work in his district, which includes the communities of Brentwood, Del Rey, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Pacific Palisades, Palms, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice, West LA and Westchester.

Councilman Rosendahl’s contact information is:

Thanks for your support!

LOS ANGELES PLANNING COMMISSION VOTES UNANIMOUSLY TO SUPPORT NEW WEST CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT

RESULTS OF THE FINAL LOS ANGELES PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING

Dear Parents, Guardians, Supporters and Students,

Today we received unanimous approval from the Los Angeles Planning Commission to our request for a conditional use permit (CUP) at the 1905 Armacost site. You can download a PDF of the decision document or read it in the viewer below.

The unanimous vote for our CUP moved us a huge step closer to opening our high school for September 2012. Overall, today was a very special day for New West, achieving approval for our much anticipated expansion was a very important turning point in completing what seemed liked endless planning and public hearings for our school. Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your amazing dedication to our school, our kids and the future of one of the best schools in Los Angeles!
